This is my second year with Andover Public Schools and Wheatland Elementary. I will be teaching 2nd grade this year!
I began my journey in education my senior year in high school as an aide for one hour a day in a 5th grade classroom. I then went on to college at Kansas State where I worked with a wide range of grade levels from 2nd grade up to 8th grade social studies). After I graduated from Kansas State, I was a substitute teacher for Salina Public Schools. After a year of substituting, I started my first year of teaching with Wichita Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher. I taught 5th grade for 8 years before moving down to teach 4th grade. I taught 4th grade for 3 years then looped with my students up to 5th grade and stayed in that position for another year after that. In total, I have been teaching 5th grade for 10 years and 4th for 3 years. Last year I taught 5th grade at Wheatland Elementary and now I am super excited to continue my journey as a 2nd grade teacher with Andover Public Schools!!!
I am a single mom of two wonderful boys ages 12 & 14. My youngest is an 8th grader at Derby North Middle School and my oldest is a freshman at Derby High School.
When I’m not in my classroom teaching, I enjoy spending time with my boys or relaxing at home. I am somewhat of a fitness enthusiast. I teach group fitness classes at Genesis Health Clubs and am currently training for my first fitness competition in the fall.
